EFMP-FS 101
The Exceptional Family Member Program – Family Support course is designed to increase the knowledge, skills, and abilities for military personnel responsible for the EFMP duties. The following are the related course competencies:
- Participants will understand how to work with and establish face-to-face meetings and communicate via social media tools as well as email and phone that meet the needs of the service and family member
- Participants will understand how to work with and establish face-to-face meetings and communicate via social media tools as well as email and phone that meet the needs of the service and family member
- Participants will understand how to navigate resources and identify and establish community partnerships (i.e., local, state, and federal) to augment resources, programming, and advocate for military families
- Participants will understand how to document non-clinical case management contacts, including the development and maintenance of an Individual Service Plan (ISP), using AFFIRST data points
- Participants will understand the challenges and the support elements encountered, resulting from the mobile military life style
- Participants will understand techniques and tools that will assist in the promotion and marketing of services to on and off-installation customers
- Participants will understand the Interstate Compact for the education of military children
- Participants will understand how to discriminate between the various types of school systems for the purpose of educating families regarding alternative schooling options as applicable
- Participants will have general knowledge of funding sources for education agencies
- Participants will have general working knowledge of key elements that may influence MCE areas of responsibilities
- Participants will have general working knowledge of key elements that may influence EFMP areas of responsibilities
